Applications for the Fall 2025 mentor cohort are OPEN through June 13, 2025. Review of applications begins on June 6, 2025. Mentor training takes place July 28 - August 8, 2025. Thank you for applying!
MentorMT addresses Montana’s critical rural teacher shortage by providing expert mentoring for new and underprepared classroom teachers. The program offers grade-level and subject-area mentoring to build effective pedagogy and content knowledge for the mentee’s grade level and discipline. Mentees who enroll in MentorMT benefit from a vibrant professional learning community as well as one-to-one mentoring from a seasoned practitioner who provides instructional guidance and curricular support as well as encouragement and empathy. MentorMT mentors are active or eligible retired Montana K-12 teachers with:
- a minimum of three years full-time classroom teaching experience
- demonstrated expertise in content and pedagogy within a grade band
- experience with and empathy toward rural education issues and concerns
MentorMT mentors are qualified to help their mentees:
- implement research-supported instructional practices
- deepen grade-level and subject-area content knowledge
- incorporate strategies that promote equitable learning
- navigate the complexities of teaching and school culture
