The Technologies of Surveillance (ToS) Working Group interrogates the methods and ethical implications of surveillance technologies, and seeks to establish guidelines for how to operationalize interrogation of technology, wherever we encounter it in our profession.

We have focused our work around five key areas: vendor-built systems, library-built systems, instruction and outreach, professional research ethics, and advocacy.

This informal survey is being administered by the ToS co-conveners, Shea Swauger and Scott Young. Responses will be used to further shape and direct our collaborative work. Excerpts may be shared and will be fully anonymized.

We thank you for completing this survey!

Imagine that you had a magic button that could instantly make one thing possible to improve privacy and technologies of surveillance. What would your magic button do for each of these areas? (answer as many as you like)
