As a camp counselor, you will serve as a role model, friend and teacher for those youth in your care and under your influence. To be successful, it is important that you understand your responsibilities prior to the camp experience and are willing to perform them to the best of your ability. Good luck as you work to make the camp experience a memorable one for the campers and fellow counselors.

I. Qualifications
1. 15 years of age or older.
2. In good standing with 4-H in your county.
3. Experience in working and/or play interaction with younger boys and girls.
4. Ability to motivate and control younger boys and girls without physical contact or force.
II. Responsibilities
1. Directly responsible to 4-H Extension Agents and adult chaperones at the 4-H camp.
2. Assists in planning and conducting age appropriate and safe camping programs that have been developed by the camp and staff, with the age appropriate campers that you are responsible.
3. Friendly with the campers.
4. Constantly supervise the children you are responsible for.
5. Apply the rules of 4-H Camp, and where disciplinary action is required, report to the adult chaperones.
6. Responsible for the care and upkeep of cabins, grounds, equipment and all buildings on the campgrounds.
7. These duties are not to be taken as the final and only work to be done by counselors. Frequently it is necessary for individual counselors to cooperate on a project, which is important for the continued smooth operation of the camp.
III. All Counselors
1. Set an example by conducting themselves in a proper manner.
2. Observe a habit of cleanliness of self and quarters.
3. Understand there shall be no illegal substances on camp grounds at anytime.
4. Complete a written evaluation and final inventory at the end of camp.
5. Will observe the same rules (including curfew) and expectations as the campers.
6. Understand any disciplinary action against you at camp may result in future exclusion from other 4-H activities.
