Informed Consent
The purpose of this research study is to develop an instrument to measure beginning statistics instructors' motivation to use group work for active learning.
To qualify for participation in this study,
• You must currently be an instructor of a statistics course or leading a statistics recitation/discussion section, and
• You must either be a graduate student or have three or less years of post-graduate teaching experience, and
• You must use group work in your statistics classroom
Participation in this study is voluntary. You are free to stop participating and may withdraw your consent at any time. You are not obligated to submit the survey, and you may skip any questions in the survey except those pertaining to your study qualification status.
There are no foreseen risks or benefits to you as a participant. We will not identify you by name in any reports using information obtained in the survey, and your confidentiality as a participant in this study will remain secure.
A total of 41 Amazon gift cards will be distributed to participants. The first person to complete the survey will receive a $10 Amazon gift card. After that, every 10th person to complete the survey up until the 400th will receive a $10 Amazon gift card
To be eligible for a gift card, you must enter your name and email address when prompted after completing the survey. This contact information will be collected and stored separately from your survey responses and will not be identifiable with your responses in any way.
If you are not prompted to enter your name and email address at the end of the survey, it means that based on your responses you are not part of the intended study population. If you choose not to enter your name and email address at the end of the survey, are not given the opportunity to enter contact information, or if you only enter the gift card contact information without completing the survey, you will not be eligible for a gift card.
This survey is estimated to take roughly 7 minutes.
