ECNS 105/206 Peer Leader Application

Overview
 
Background: In efforts to enhance student learning in ECNS 101 and ECNS 202, the DAEE offers two optional 1-credit study lab classes (ECNS 105 and ECNS 206) to students concurrently enrolled in ECNS 101 and ECNS 202. In a lab, students work on additional problems, ask questions in small group setting, and receive additional instruction. Each study lab class is taught by a student (i.e., peer leader) under faculty supervision. All lab classes are capped at 25 students.

Number of positions: The DAEE will hire for 9 study lab sections.

Compensation: Peer leaders earn $15.00 per hour and work 6 hours per week for 15 weeks.

Expectations: Deliver weekly 50-minute classes; evaluate students’ work; answer students’ questions on the course material; attend weekly coordination meetings to receive curriculum and prepare for lab class; hold 1 hour of office hours per week. 

Minimum requirement: Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 at MSU. Minimum AGBE/ECNS/EFIN GPA of 3.3.

Preferred qualification: Junior or senior standing in ag. business, economics, or financial engineering.
